Terms & Conditions for Studio bymin. Please ensure you have read and understood these Terms and Conditions before booking any of our classes and services. Please make sure you read the terms for the service you are using (classes and membership)

By booking or attending a class or workshop and by using any of our services you are deemed to have read, understood and accepted the Terms and Conditions.

Studio bymin may at any time modify these Terms and Conditions. We will notify you of any changes to these Terms and Conditions either by emailing you and/or by posting a notice at the Studio. By continuing to use the Services after changes to these Terms and Conditions are made and notified, you agree to be bound by such changes.

It is your responsibility to ensure that you are familiar with the current Terms and Conditions.

Contract of Sale

Completion of the booking process and acceptance of our Terms and Conditions forms your contract with Studio bymin (hereafter, referred in these terms and conditions as ‘Studio bymin, ‘The Company’ or ‘The Studio’).

Payment through our website is made via our secure check out pages using secure payment service provider Mollie.

Payment

For clay classes, payment of the full class or course fees must be made in advance. All classes and courses will state on their listing what is included as part of the cost you pay.

Cancellation policy

All our courses and workshops are refundable up until 30 days prior to the start of the course. After this your booking is non-refundable.

If the course or workshop does not have enough participants to run, we reserve the right to reschedule the course or give you a refund.

Expectations from finished works

For environmental reasons (if unwanted pieces are fired they can no longer be recycled and are likely to end up in landfill) as well as due to limited shelf and kiln capacity, we specify the number of pieces made in each course or class which can be fired, glazed, etc. Please refer to the course description for more information.

Please note, the bottom of finished pots will not be glazed as glaze sticks to kiln shelves.  We will not be held responsible for these irregularities on your finished work.

The studio reserves the right to revise and amend firing schedules to make sure all makers' pieces of work can be stored safely and fired properly.

Items will not be fired  of which the glaze is deemed to have been applied too thickly or in a way that might damage the kiln. Please ensure you follow the tutor’s advice on glazing to prevent issues.

Cancellations

Studio bymin reserves the right to cancel a course or class up to and including the date of the course if insufficient bookings have been received and will strive to give as much notice to booked participants as possible. The studio shall not be responsible or liable for any delay in or failure to run courses if such delay or failure is due to any cause beyond our reasonable control.

Individuals booked onto a cancelled course will be given the option of a full refund or of rescheduling to a future course date if available. The Studio will not be liable for any losses or expenses arising from amendments to the course or cancellations.

Studio bymin reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to close the Studio at any time during the year.

Cleaning

All participants in a class or course are required to clean their workspace and any areas of the Studio that they have used at the end of each class, this is for good studio practice and to prevent the build-up of clay dust.

Collection of the work produced during a Class or Course

Pick up your items

It takes 3 to 8 weeks for the pieces to be ready for collection after the class. It can sometimes take longer depending on our kiln firing schedule and the weather conditions (for example in the winter months pieces might take longer to dry). We will keep your pieces for 6 weeks after we have contacted you to collect. After this time your pieces will be either donated or disposed of.

Zero tolerance on abuse and harassment policy

We operate a zero tolerance on abuse policy at Studio bymin. Our studio is a place to come together as a community and we expect our students to be kind and respectful to other students and to our teachers and staff. No form of physical or non-physical abuse or anti-social behaviour will be tolerated. This includes written abuse or harassment over social media. Examples of harassment over social media are continual commentary, inappropriate or rude remarks either on public posts or through private messages. Any remarks deemed offensive, rude or distressing to our staff.

Health and Safety / Waiver and release of liability

Studio bymin takes a diligent approach to health and safety. Customers who attend our pottery making classes and workshops are agreeing to abide by the guidelines of our Health & Safety Policy. Repeated failure to do so could result in termination of the student’s participation rights on the class or course, without refund.

Students/customers acknowledge that engaging in this activity is at own risk and may involve a test of a current person's physical and mental limits and may carry with it the potential for death, serious injury, and property loss. Students/customers use the Studio or participate in workshops and courses at their own risk with awareness of the inherent hazards of a pottery studio environment, which include, but are not limited to, use of sharp tools and sharp edges, exposure to toxic materials, the dangers of using materials and equipment at high temperatures, the risks associated with breathing silica dust, and potential physical or psychological injury.

Studio bymin accepts no liability for any physical or mental injury suffered by any student/customer on the Studio premises or outside the Studio.

Each student is required to keep all surfaces clean of clay and glaze, and to clean all areas including the floor around their workstation thoroughly before completing their session. This is to minimise the risks caused by breathing clay and glaze dusts. We have a class M vacuum cleaner to first remove the largest parts of clay and dust. Thereafter we apply the wet cleaning method, and everything must be wiped down with a wet sponge and floors with a wet mop. No dusting or use of broom as dry clay is potentially harmful.

No student/customer is to get near the kiln area. Please keep at least 1 m distance to the kiln at all times.

The exit must be kept clear at all times. In the event of a fire, Students/customers are asked to make their way to the exit.

Smoking (including e-cigarettes) are forbidden at Studio bymin.

Technical issues and breakages

The Studio is equipped with high quality kiln and equipment. Experienced and trained staff will handle and fire your ceramic work. However, by the nature of ceramics unfortunately there always remains a risk of technical failure and/or breakage of the pieces for which the Studio and trained staff cannot be held responsible.

Clay and glazes disclaimer

We may at any given time change the type of clay and glaze mixtures that we use at the Studio. Because of this, there is no guarantee that the pieces you make will match the finish of other pieces you may have made at an earlier visit or which you may have seen someone else make.

Photography disclaimer

The images used on this website and our social media are illustrative only and used for inspiration and are therefore not representative of the pieces you will achieve during our classes. Each person brings their own personality, creativity, pace and skill into the ceramics process and the outcome of the same session will be different for each participant.

The studio may at times take photos during your class, session or workshop that we may use for future promotional material, either online, social media or in print. Permission will be asked beforehand.
